Talented women weavers from Maheshwar's famous Rehwa Society created this grandmother like Karuna Doll from Madhya Pradesh, lovingly named Narmada Dadi (meaning grandmother in Hindi). She is adorned with a special sari made from the Maheshwari handloom fabric leftovers. Dadi, like all other grandmothers, loves telling stories. Her favorite tales to tell of the Narmada river and all its surrounding life forms are brought to life with painted animal characters by Gond artist Choti Tekam.
Karuna from the very heart of India, Madhya Pradesh represents a nature lover who brings loads of stories about nature. Even her name is taken from the beloved river. Here in the form of Narmada Dadi, she brings loads of stories.
